The Baldwin cheerleading team added another achievement to its already impressive season with a fourth-place finish in the state championship at Hershey this Saturday.

“We did great overall,” junior cheerleader Olivia Kniola said.

Baldwin placed fourth in the large varsity division. The team felt very good about its finish because the three teams that placed above Baldwin compete nationally, Kniola said.

The Highlanders will be leaving for nationals at Disney World on Feb. 7, giving them time to prepare. The team will be having extra practices, including some combined practices with Bethel Park until they leave, Kniola said.

“We’ve all been pushing each other really hard,” Kniola said. “We’re really excited because we are the best that we’ve ever been.”
