The girls basketball team got the new season off to a hot start with a pair of non-section wins over the weekend.

The Highlanders are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season last year with new Head Coach Kyle DeGregorio in charge. A 2-0 start to the season is important for momentum going forward.

“It feels good to help start the team off well,” said sophomore Meghan Dryburgh, who is a transfer from Seton-Lasalle. “We are more confident now.”

The Highlanders did what they needed to in order to get the wins over South Park and Elizabeth Forward.

“We listened (to the coach) a lot better and communicated well,” Dryburgh said.

Sophomores Anna Lucarelli and Kayla Radomsky were also standout performers for the Highlanders over the weekend.

Now they are ready to focus on section play, which opens against Peters Township on Thursday night.
