The Coach Eugene Wilson era of Baldwin Basketball got off to a slow start with two non-section losses over the weekend against Thomas Jefferson and North Catholic.

On Friday against Thomas Jefferson, the team lost 51-46.

“On Friday, we were own worst enemies,” junior Andy Degenhardt said. “It was unforced errors that really hurt us.”

Sophomore Joey Starzynski was the leading scorer with 13 points on Friday.

On Saturday, the team lost to North Catholic 64-59. Degenhardt and sophomore Connor Lavelle led the team with 18 points each.

“We played better on Saturday, but we still have some room to improve,” Starzynski said.

The team continues play on Tuesday with a non-section matchup at West Allegheny.

“We need to play with more energy and enthusiasm to win on Tuesday,” Starzynski said.
