For many students, gaining experience for their future career choice is hard to come by. That is not the case for senior DJ Pickell.

Pickell was selected for the All East Choir, becoming only the fourth student in choir director Kris Tranter’s tenure to be selected. Pickell plans to pursue a degree in music education, so he is extremely excited for the opportunity.

“I want to major in music education and voice performance, so being able to work with top-level educators and performers will help so much,” Pickell said.

With this accolade, Pickell has reached the second-highest honor in high school choir, behind only the National Choir.

“I’m excited to start for sure. It’s humbling to be selected to this ensemble,” Pickell said. “It’s an awesome opportunity.”
