The girls volleyball team came back from a two-set deficit to win the final three sets and defeat Pine-Richland Wednesday night, qualifying them for WPIAL finals and states.

The Highlanders play North Allegheny at 6 p.m. Saturday at Fox Chapel for the WPIAL championship.

“We have worked so hard to make it this far, and are determined to beat North Allegheny in the championship,” senior defensive specialist Kerri Herron said.

Senior Mackenzie Meis said they were not playing poorly at the beginning of Wednesday’s game. Pine-Richland was just playing better.

“I knew we had it in is,” Meis said.

The team was determined to win, especially after coming back after losing the first two games to draw even at 2-2.

“We knew in the fifth set that it was our only chance, so why stop now,” Herron said.

The girls then play Tuesday in states but they do not know against who or where yet.
