The girls volleyball team is ready to start its next chapter tonight against Shaler as the Highlanders begin postseason play after a first-round bye.

The team landed the No. 2 seed in the WPIAL’s 4A conference.

“We have moved on from our regular season success,” senior Kerri Herron said. “We are focused on our future goals, not on what we have completed already.”

The team is playing the seven-seed seed in Shaler, which beat Hempfield last Wednesday in the first round of the playoffs.

“We have to focus on Shaler, and not future teams we could possibly play if we win,” Herron said.

The team hopes to be able to continue the recent success it has had in the playoffs.

“Our communication has been strong the last few years, and if we can continue that in this year’s playoffs, we have a good chance to go far,” Herron said.
