Red Ribbon Week starts Monday, and each day students are encouraged to wear a different clothing item to promote support of a drug-free lifestyle.

The week will kick off with “Wear Red” day, with students encouraged to wear red to show their commitment to the drug awareness program. Tuesday is called “My Future is Bright Without Drugs” for neon, brightly-colored clothing, or sunglasses, followed by Wednesday for “Put a Cap on Drugs” day, in which students are allowed to wear a hat to school.

Adults are asked to attend a meeting on Wednesday as well, titled “Our Children, Our Community, Our Future K-12,” which will feature speakers Brian Dempsey of the DEA and Kelly Weselosky of the FBI, along with local law enforcement and first responders. The meeting, at 6:30 p.m. at the high school, will allow them to share local data regarding opioid and drug issues within the community.

Thursday continues with “Be on a Drug-Free Team.” Students are encouraged to wear their favorite team apparel. Red Ribbon Week will finish on Friday with “Our School is Drug-Free” day. Students are asked to sport purple and white for the program and to show school spirit.
