The Baldwin football team continued its big start on Friday with a remarkable 48-42 overtime win at Moon Township.

The Highlanders had fallen behind 42-22 before junior quarterback Mason Stahl keyed a huge second-half comeback to put the game into overtime at 42-42.

The win moved Baldwin’s record to 3-1. For the seniors, that’s the first time Baldwin has won three games in a season during their time here — and there is still a lot of football left to play. The team’s section record is 1-1.

Senior wide receiver Dre Howell credits the comeback to the team’s hard work and experience this year.

“The only thing different this year is that the whole team came back, so we were more prepared to battle,” Howell said.

The Moon Tigers missed a field goal on their first possession of overtime, which enabled Stahl to make the game-winning touchdown pass to junior Naseer Penn.

Howell thinks that this team has a more winning mentality than years past.

“We have more of a winning culture and our goal is to win the section,” Howell said.

Baldwin takes on Woodland Hills this week on Friday on the road.
