Baldwin girls volleyball defeated Oakland Catholic Thursday in a hard-fought match that ended in a score of 3-2.

The Highlanders won the first two sets before Oakland came back, winning the next two. Baldwin then took the fifth set.

Senior Kerri Herron was happy the team came out with the win.

“We played smart and aggressive and we fought till the very end,” Herron said.

Juniors Allison Murray and Mia Hampsay along with senior Mackenzie Meis stood out in the game.

“I think we gave up on ourselves,” said Herron, reflecting on the two sets they lost.

The Highlanders are now 2-0 on the season with Upper Saint Clair being their next challenge on the road Tuesday.
