The reason Bachelor Nation is so frustrated with this pick is that we already saw Colton’s season. It was called Bachelor in Paradise.

Each year, as the fun-filled antics of Paradise come to a close, the producers of the Bachelor franchise face a predicament.

They must choose a bachelor to begin another year in bachelor time.

And each year, it seems that they begin this apparent “bachelor new year” on the wrong foot. They choose an insufficient bachelor.

Similar to an American who buys a gym membership in January, the producers always have the tools for a new season. This year, they had a great collection of men to choose from: runner-up Blake, fan favorite Jason, Wills, who was sent home from Paradise far too early, or even beloved Peter from Rachel’s season.

Yet, here we are with the classic yet boring pick.

The thing is, Colton isn’t bad at all. The end of his relationship with Becca really did break his heart, and it could be argued that it was Tia’s fault. Yet, he never blamed her for this, and according to social media platforms, the two keep in touch. And during his stay in both the bachelor mansion and Paradise, he was never disrespectful toward anyone, which is honestly saying a lot.

He even has his own charity that focuses on helping fight cystic fibrosis and getting kids involved in athletics. To be clear, Bachelor Nation does not hate Colton. We don’t even dislike him.

The reason Bachelor Nation is so frustrated with this pick is that we already saw Colton’s season. It was called Bachelor in Paradise.

Due to Tia’s fascination with Colton, he was a topic of conversation before even arriving on the beach. Then, he reunited with Becca, where we delved into the heartbreak he experienced at home, away from cameras. He eventually pursued a long-time-coming relationship with Tia, and then it didn’t work out in the end.

We already have his storyline. It’s time for someone else’s. And it doesn’t help Colton that, like bachelors before him, he’s far less charismatic than the other apparent candidates.

To be fair, in the event that Blake, Jason, Wills, and Peter all denied the producers’ offers to become the bachelor, Colton was a great pick. But still, it’s hard for Bachelor Nation to be excited to watch a story they feel like they’ve already seen, starring their fifth-favorite bachelor pick.
