Three Baldwin track and field athletes finished in the top 10 in their events at states over the weekend.

Senior Laurel Bristow competed in all three throwing events — shot put, javelin, and discus — and placed seventh in shot put, throwing 39 feet, and placed sixth in javelin, throwing 130 feet.

Junior Bailey O’Malley finished third in shot put and junior Brendan O’Malley finished eighth in the long jump.

Competing at the state level is a huge honor, Bristow said.

“A lot of people don’t even make it go states for one event and I made it for all three, which was really rewarding,” Bristow said.

Bristow will continue her athletic career at the University of Akron, where she will compete in all three throwing events.

“I’m more consistent with shot put, but I enjoy javelin the most,” Bristow said.

Bristow knows what it will take to succeed at the next level.

“I’m just going to keep working hard to keep consistent and keep doing what I’m doing,” Bristow said.
