Among the various fashion looks that are making a comeback this year is the return of Vans shoes.

A growing number of Baldwin students prefer Vans over brands such as Adidas, Nike, Jordan or Converse. Some of them explained that they prefer Vans because those are the most comfortable shoes.

Vans are a unique shoe brand, because they are designed for both males and females.

Vans come in various colors and patterns. One of the most popular designs this year is a checkered black and white pattern.

Sophomore Gemma Gurcak is one of the students who love Vans.

“I do not currently own a pair of checkered Vans, but it is a design that I would like to get because Vans are very comfortable, and I would like to add a new design to my collection,” Gurcak said.

Among the cool designs, the original black Vans with white shoelaces are well liked too. Many students said that the original Vans were the first pair that they purchased.

Throughout the years the company has become more creative with their designs. They have added shapes and colors that compliment each other perfectly.

A prime example is the galaxy print shoe. This specific shoe sold rather quickly, and soon many teenagers began to purchase them.

People also have the choice to get their shoes custom designed. Although this is more expensive, some customers are, as the ad slogan goes, “off the wall” for Vans.

Over the years the Van company has created more than just shoes, including T- Shirts, hats, bookbags, and sweatshirts. The bookbags sell fast, and many students can be seen walking through the halls with the bookbags, which includes the “off the wall” slogan.

The closest Vans store is located in South Hills Village. It includes surfing merchandise and its skateboarding-inspired shoes as well as casual wear.
