When family and consumer science teacher Beth Fochtman wrote for the Purbalite during her junior and senior years of high school, her favorite type of stories had to do with current events at school.
When one of her classmates passed away days before graduation, Fochtman wrote a piece honoring the student. It was one of Fochtman’s favorite pieces to write because it touched her personally.
Although she did not end up in a career involving any type of journalism, Fochtman said she had fun in her time as a Purbalite staff writer.
“Journalism was never my niche, but all of my memories of Purbalite are fond ones,” she said.
