One last ride: The boys basketball team hopes to make a playoff run for the third year in a row. The team expected a starting line up comprised of seniors Jake Monroe, Nick Fiumara, Mike Goga, Frank Owusu, and Jeremy Jenkins (left to right) .

The boys basketball team’s playoff hopes were dashed in a hard loss Friday night to section rival Mt. Lebanon.

The final score was 70-48. Senior Nick Fiumara led the team in scoring with 20 points.

Fiumara said he could not think of any positives that came out of the game.

“Nobody really played well,” Fiumara said.

The Highlanders suffered from too many turnovers, and they were not able to hit their shots, he said. The team had the right mentality going into the game, but that was wiped away early on.

“We still wanted to win, but Lebo had a huge lead after the first quarter,” Fiumara said.

This loss eliminates the team’s possibilities for making the playoffs, which will make the rest of the season tough.

Their next game is Tuesday night against Canon-Mac for Baldwin’s senior game.

“It’s just like any other game,” Fiumara said. “It’s for pride.”
