“Misfits” was a hit, and the $13,000 it raised for the Make-A-Wish foundation is the most so far of the four musicals that junior Mikayla Davic has written and directed.

That total was donated over three nights last week, bringing the total raised by the musicals Davic has written since eighth grade to $45,000. Her goal has been to raise $50,000 for the Make-A-Wish foundation, which she seems assured to hit with her final musical next year.

“I am very impressed with the amount. Each year we have gained more support and have been able to donate a larger amount to Make-A-Wish,” Davic said.

The money is not directed toward a specific family, but the proceeds go to children in the Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia area.

Davic said roughly 2,000 people attended the musical, with the Saturday show having the largest audience with about 800 people in the crowd.

“My favorite part was looking out into the crowd and seeing the huge amount of people,” Davic said.

Davic has inspired many people but she said the most humbling part was when two third-graders told her they wanted to continue the tradition after she graduates.

The planning and pre-writing for next year’s musical are already under way.

“I am so pleased on how this turned out and I cannot wait for next year,” Davic said.
