The boys basketball team kicked off its season with a pair of wins, defeating North Catholic on Friday and Thomas Jefferson on Saturday.

The Highlanders beat North Catholic 34-28 in a close game, with seniors Mike Goga and Jeremy Jenkins as top scorers.

“We didn’t start out the best, but we played well enough in the second half to get the win,” Jenkins said.

The boys team secured a win the next day against Thomas Jefferson with a final score of 70-42. Junior Christian Barr and senior Nick Fiumara led scorers on Saturday night.

“We started off shooting really well and continued to play together well as a team to keep the big lead we had,” Jenkins said.

The boys will hope to keep the winning streak going Tuesday night against Chartiers Valley at Baldwin High School.
