Drama Club announces “all you really need to know” about fall play

This year’s fall play will be “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”

“The play is about real people who are in the midst of their lives, reminiscing about a moment that defined them,” Michelle Jenkins, Drama Club sponsor, said at a club meeting after school Friday.

While the actors will play adults of all ages, the play is based around the characters remembering their early years, and the lessons learned from their experiences.

“It offers a lot of flexibility with the cast and will appeal to all types of people,” Jenkins said. “It has a lot of depth and it is both funny and sad.”

Those interested in auditioning need to prepare a pair of one-minute monologues — one should be a comedy, and the other should be a drama. Auditions will be held Friday, Sept. 27.

There will be at least 10 roles cast, Jenkins said. The play will have up to 18 scenes. There also will be opportunities outside of acting, such as for stage crew.

Jenkins said she also is looking for singing talent. However, singing is not required at auditions.

Anyone who was unable to attend Friday’s meeting but is interested in participating in Drama Club should see Jenkins in Room 312. Club information also is posted on her website, jenkins11.weebly.com.
