The cheerleaders have earned a return trip to Florida.

At a competition in Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend, both the Game Day and Mat cheerleading teams won bids to nationals at Disney World.

The Mat team finished first in its division, and the Game Day team finished second.

The cheerleaders had not competed against the teams they faced over the weekend, so they did not know what to expect going in.

“We did not expect the win when we were warming up,” junior Erin Winkowski said.

Winkowski said the girls had a few falls during Mat team warm-ups, but they ended up hitting their routine.

“We knew we had it when we hit,” Winkowski said.

Both teams will be going to Disney to compete for a national title in February.

“We are all so excited to go back to Disney this year,” sophomore Alaina Wodarek said.
