Fright Night puts twist on typical Kennywood experience

Mackenzie Sendro, Staff Writer

Those who have not been fortunate enough to experience the famous Phantom Fright Nights at Kennywood Park should make it a priority to go as soon as possible.

Not only does Fright Night provide a particular twist on old-fashioned haunted houses, it also gives a sense of familiarity for those who have enjoyed Kennywood for many years.

For those who are not so familiar with Kennywood and all of its glory, Fright Night is a new way to experience amusement parks.

Some of the most well-known rides at Kennywood Park, such as Noah’s Ark and the Raging Rapids, are transformed to provide some of the best frights ever. These rides incorporate a new spooky theme each year. For the traditional roller coaster rides, however, riders get to experience their favorite coasters in the evening.

One downside, however, is how each individual “Haunt Station” incorporates the same jump-scare routine. Some scary figure — a zombie, vampire, or scarecrow — is hiding in the shadows, and then suddenly appears as visitors turn the corner.

That aside, Phantom Fright Nights is the perfect way to fully get into the Halloween spirit this fall.
