A nun. A murder. A cover-up. Rumors of abuse at an all-girls Catholic high school.

The documentary series The Keepers follows several of Sister Cathy Cesnik’s former students in present-day Baltimore as they search for answers to the unsolved case of their beloved high school teacher’s murder in 1969.

The first episode offers the background of the case, a story that mostly everyone already knew from the news reports about the murder. A teaser at the end of the episode leaves the viewer questioning the facts.

The following episodes delve deep into the alleged misdeeds of Father Magnus and Father Maskell of Archbishop Keough High School, as women come forward with accusations of sexual abuse during their time at the school. They say they have reason to believe Sister Cathy’s death was a result of her standing up for the girls.

The Keepers helps to shed light on the speculation surrounding Sister Cathy’s murder and on the topic of sexual abuse as well. Viewers become easily moved by the women’s passion as they search for justice for their former teacher.
