Juniors beat seniors in Powderpuff game

Senior Mariah Pacella was not surprised with the results of Thursday night’s Powderpuff game, in which the juniors won 20-0 over the senior class.

“I feel like there needed to be one class who lost every single game, and it just happened to be us,” Pacella said.

The seniors will graduate 0-4 in their Powderpuff careers, having lost in seventh and eighth grades, last year as juniors, and Thursday as seniors.

Pacella said that overall it wasn’t about winning or losing to her.

“It was about having fun with people that I don’t normally talk to,” Pacella said.

The juniors’ defense is what put them ahead of the seniors, Coach Chris Creighton said. The amount of preparation and energy they had also played a part in their victory.

One finds limits by pushing them.

“Defense was what won it for us,” Creighton said. He is extremely proud of his team and is glad that everyone enjoyed the experience.

Senior Sammi Sobieralski is up for a rematch “wherever and whenever” the juniors want. She does want to congratulate junior Alina Stahl though, for ultimately leading her team.

Stahl scored all four touchdowns for her team, but without help from her defensive line it would have been more difficult for her, junior Christina Madden said.

Madden was very excited about the team’s win. After taking a moment to think of an inspirational quote, she came up with, “One finds limits by pushing them.”

Senior Coach Dave Dunaway, meanwhile, said, “I don’t do interviews.”
