Snapchat creates more than just filters

For fans of both snapchat and glasses, snapchat has created the perfect hybrid.

The glasses have one lense in the corner of the frames and come in either black, blue or pink.  Spectacles record circular videos, so you can rotate your phone to see more of the image.

Filters, emoji’s and text are options once the video is in Snapchat.  It is just like editing a regular snap.  As far as face filters come, those funny Snapchat face swaps and Bambi ears will not be happening.  The spectacles are supposed to pick up sound pretty well, so voiceovers would sound clear enough in videos.

The only thing I did not like about these frames was that only videos can be taken, no photos. Snap launched Spectacles in November 2016. People waited hours to get their hands on a pair, which at first were only available from a vending machine on Venice Beach.

At the beginning of the Spectacles frenzy, resellers listed the black, orange and blue glasses for more than $900 on eBay.  If you use Snapchat a lot, Spectacles open up the possibility of capturing hands-free, phone-free moments.

One pair goes for around $129 on the Spectacle’s website.  In terms of how worthy these spectacles are compared to a GoPro, the Spectacles are much cheaper, but GoPros have better quality.
