Beat captures more attention than lyrics

Beat captures more attention than lyrics

While everyone enjoys the healthy dosage of a good cry-worthy breakup song, the new year is full of music that isn’t quite as tissue dependent.

Artists such as Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith are most popularly known for depressing songs that never fail to bring tears to almost anyone’s eyes. But with the new trend of beat-based music, artists planning to release the next heartbreak hit will have to rethink their options.

Many aspects of the music industry have changed drastically over time. While heartfelt lyrics and passionate melodies were once the way to a fan’s heart, songs that make someone get up and dance are what more audiences are searching for now.

For example, the release of Sheeran’s new album, Divide, has made this new trend much more noticeable. Fans of Sheeran have gotten used to his lyrics that spark lots of emotions due to the personal feel of them. However, his new album proves to be much different, with songs that are replaced by the sensation of dancing instead of crying alone in a corner.

The newer songs being released have a more techy feel to them, with DJ’s finding the spotlight again and doing what they do best. Even when an artist tends to stray away from what’s popular and continues to release heartfelt music, a remix will be created within days to establish the upbeat spin.

One artist who fell victim to this is Stanaj. He released a song called “Romantic”, which quickly became popular. However, it was a slow song. So, many remixes were created following its release.

The only problem with this is that the remixes are slowly becoming more popular than the originals. Artists who spend their time creating a song full of feelings and emotions almost get that stripped away from them when their song is completely dissected and made into something new.

While songs that people can dance to are nice, slow songs also hold a lot of meaning as well. A lot of the time audiences can connect more on a personal level to songs that hold heartfelt lyrics and connect to their own lives, rather than songs simply dependent on beats. And changing these songs that meant something to an individual into something completely different change the meaning and perception entirely.
