The hockey team lost to Montour on Thursday night by a score of 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the single-A PIHL playoffs.

The Highlanders allowed a goal eight seconds into the game but rebounded nicely to take a 2-1 lead after two periods. Baldwin’s goals were scored by sophomore Lucas Kirk and senior Paul Knerr.

In the third period, however, Montour got two unanswered goals for the victory.

Defenseman Nick Antonio, a junior, said Montour was more physical than Baldwin.

“We really weren’t ready to face that much physicality,” Antonio said. “It was a real chippy, aggressive game.”

Despite the loss, Antonio said there are positives to pull out of this season for next season.

“Even though we lost, we now know what to expect in the playoffs,” Antonio said. “We can come back better and stronger next season.”
