Cheer team ranks 12th in the nation
February 15, 2017
For seniors Lauren Colosimo and Ashley Toth, finishing 12th in the nation was a great way to end their final year of Highlander cheerleading.
“It was a lot of fun and exciting to make it to finals because we’ve never done that before,” Colosimo said.
Both Baldwin competitive cheer teams, the mat and game day teams, qualified for nationals, which were held in Florida over the weekend. The mat team’s 12th place finish was the best finish of the seniors’ career.
This was a big milestone for the team, because the cheerleaders didn’t make it to semi-finals last year.
“We improved our partner stunts. Last year we fell. This year we hit our routine almost perfectly,” Toth said.
Saint Hubert Catholic High School, also from Pennsylvania, placed first in the nation, but Colosimo and Toth are confident that the next year’s Baldwin team will improve on this year’s results.
