Swimmer Liam Watterson qualified for another WPIAL event, the 100 butterfly, during Thursday night’s meet against Chartiers Valley.

This is his fourth individual WPIAL qualification. He earlier made the qualifying times in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 200 individual medley.

He qualified on Thursday with a personal record, finishing with a time of 55.84.

“It felt great to qualify, and I crushed the WPIAL cut (time),” Watterson said.

Throughout the year, he has improved his times in this event. At the beginning, he was finishing at 57 seconds during the 100 butterfly, but now he is at his best time.

“I have trained hard and intense and worked a lot on cardio and strength training,” Watterson said.

Another swimmer who swam very well Thursday night was junior Brandi Marsch, Watterson said.

The swimming team has one more meet, against Bethel Park, next Tuesday.
