Boys basketball prepares for showdown with Lebo
February 3, 2017
The boys basketball team has a huge section showdown against Mt. Lebanon tonight at home.
Going into tonight’s game, Mt. Lebanon has a record of 8-1 and Baldwin is 7-2. A win tonight for Baldwin would pull the Highlanders into a tie for first.
Baldwin beat Lebo earlier in the year. The boys are expecting a tough game tonight but also plan to win once again.
To prepare for the game, “we focused a lot on defense,” senior Anthony Reid said.
Senior Frank Owusu said he is expecting a lot of tension tonight because Mt. Lebanon is looking for revenge. In the earlier win over Lebo, Baldwin played its best defense of the year, Owusu said.
“We kept their best players in foul trouble all game,” Owusu said.
Although Baldwin came out on top last game, it was a tight game and the score was separated by single digits.
Along with Reid, junior Nick Fiumara is expected to be a key player in tonight’s match-up, Owusu said.
“My mentality is to win no matter what,” Owusu said. “We always have an edge on them.”
Tonight’s game will be broadcast by the Highlander Highlights team on their YouTube channel, with play-by-play by Purbalite Sports Editor Jack Hillgrove, and color commentary by Purbalite Sports Editor Mike Silvestre.
