Girls basketball defeats Upper St. Clair

The girls basketball team won 40-28 Thursday night at home against Upper St. Clair.

The girls came together and earned their first section win of the season, making their section record 1-3.

The star players of the game were seniors Lauren Gilbert, Abby Barr and Amanda Wood, as well as junior Teia Swiger.

“Teia really improved. She went from sitting on the JV bench last season to being a starting guard and forward for varsity this season,” Barr said.

Wood said that throughout the season the team has improved on transition defense, which helped them win the game. All year long, everyone has pitched in, she said.

The girls play their next game on Monday at home against Bethel.

“It’s going to be a tough game but I’m confident we can do it,” Wood said.
