Principal Kevin O’Toole has requested a leave of absence for the remainder of the school year and the leave was granted by Superintendent Randal Lutz.
In an address to students over the intercom system on Jan. 18, Lutz said that the school’s daily operations and activities would not be affected by the change.
“The Baldwin High School administrative team, along with support from central office, will ensure consistency and continuity of all the educational programs, events, and activities,” Lutz said.
The only difference students should notice, Lutz said, is that they may see some new faces as administrative duties are divided among the high school administrative team.
Assistant Superintendent Denise Sedlacek will be at the high school for the next few weeks to assist with operations. After that time, Lutz will make a determination as to whether an interim principal will be named for the rest of this school year.
The administrative team — consisting of Vice Principal Jonathan Peebles, Vice Principal Janeen Peretin, Guidance Supervisor Stephanie McHugh, Athletic Director Vince Sortino, and Dean of Students Pete Wagner — with support from central office administration will assume the additional administrative responsibilities for the remainder of the year.
Lutz said he has confidence in the administrative team at the high school and that second semester activities and daily operations would not be affected.
Parents were notified of the change through a letter sent via Skyalert and Google by Lutz.
