Upset bid by girls basketball falls just short

The girls basketball team fell short at the last second in an upset bid against section rival Mt. Lebanon on Monday night.

This was the first section game of the season, and it was against the top team in the section, according to senior Amanda Wood.

“We were proud to show people what we are capable of,” Wood said. “We would rather not have expectations going onto a game, but we always strive for delivery.”

Teamwork was very important in this game, and will continue to be important through the remainder of the season, Wood said.

While the team was frustrated by the loss, the Highlanders will continue to use teamwork to face other tough opponents, such as Peters Township in their home game this Thursday.

The girls will see Mt. Lebanon again this season on their home court.

“This team has the ability to beat anyone, but if we expect to win, we won’t play as well,” Wood said.
