Cheerleaders make nationals
October 31, 2016
The mat and game day cheerleading squads both qualified for nationals this weekend with their strong performances at a regional competition in Ohio.
The game day squad, which performs the routine that would be seen at football games including chants and the fight song, finished in first place.
“We were happy to beat Pine-Richland in the game day competition,” senior Lauren Colosimo said.
The mat squad, which performs traditional cheer with music, finished third.
“We hit all our stunts, so we were really happy with our performance,” Colosimo said.
They will prepare later this year with a sendoff competition with other teams going to nationals in the area. Then they compete at nationals in Disney World from February 10-15.
