Girls volleyball wins, preps for second round

The girls volleyball team beat Penn-Trafford Wednesday night, setting up a second-round match next week against rival North Allegheny.
The Highlanders defeated Penn-Trafford 3-1. Baldwin lost the opening game, but then won three straight to take the match.
Senior Erin Ferrari said Penn-Trafford played really well.
“All of the games were within an eight-point range,” Ferrari said.
Baldwin was confident going into the game, and that confidence was not shaken by the opening set loss, she said.
Two standouts for Baldwin in the match were Allison Murray and Bri Phillips, Ferrari said.
Baldwin now moves on to a second-round match next Tuesday against North Allegheny, a team that Baldwin beat to take the WPIAL championship each of the past two years.
“Even though they’re a hard team to beat, we are still confident,” Ferrari said.
