The ice hockey team opened its season with a 3-2 win on Thursday against Montour.

The goals were scored by senior Paul Knerr, junior Dan Figura, and sophomore Lucas Kirk.

The Highlanders went into the game focused on defense.

“We knew Montour had three top scorers. Our focus was to shut them down,” senior captain Dom Carlino said.

The team showed good energy throughout the game, Carlino said.

“It was a hard-fought win,” Carlino said.

The team faces Chartiers Valley in an away game on Monday.
