The girls volleyball team scored a huge win Tuesday with an upset of previously unbeaten Upper St. Clair.

The Highlanders, two-time WPIAL champs, had lost to Upper St. Clair earlier in the season. Players said they went into the Tuesday showdown fully intending to bring more energy than they had in the previous Upper St. Clair match.

“Everything clicked and we picked up our energy a lot,” freshman Mia Hampsay said of Tuesday’s 3-1 victory.

Two standout players were senior Abby Wagner and junior Brianna Phillips.

“Both had great blocks and hits during the game,” senior Erin Ferrari said.

The girls are looking forward to another chance at revenge on Thursday night, when they will play Mt. Lebanon, another team that beat them earlier in the year.

The Highlanders are hoping to prove “we are the better team,” Ferrari said.
