Football team starts season at Woodland Hills

The football team begins its regular season tonight with an away game against well-regarded Woodland Hills.

“It will be tough because they will have home-field advantage and the crowd,” senior Jarod Baker said.

Coming off a disappointing 1-8 season, Baldwin may see some benefit from the new WPIAL section alignment. The Highlanders have moved to 5-A in the format change, and will face some new opponents.

“This year we need to perform 100 percent every game, and good results will follow,” Baker said.

The team has new leaders and captains this year. They are seniors Artie Priore, Nick Cecere, Dom Molinaro, Brody McLean, and David Johnston.

The quarterback is junior Jeremy Jenkins, who has no experience at the varsity level. But his teammates believe in his abilities.

“Jeremy has made great strides this off-season, and we are confident in him,” senior Benson Vo said.
