The WPIAL individual track championships are taking place at Baldwin this afternoon.
The Highlanders are well-represented at championships, with 32 athletes competing.
Top finishers go on to states. Given the competition at this event, that is a big challenge in many events.
“It is definitely the hardest state qualifier for the two-mile without a doubt,” junior Casey Conboy said.
The meet is an all-day event and it can take a toll on some runners.
“My event is one of the final events of the entire day,” Conboy said. “It will be late at night and I will be stuck around all day for only the one event. It is definitely not the easiest thing to do.”
