Student Council is hosting a “car smash” next Tuesday during lunch periods to “smash out” drugs and alcohol before prom.
The old car was donated by student council member and junior Marisa Manning.
“The car was rusted on the bottom so it was illegal to drive, so I decided to donate it to raise awareness,” Manning said.
Tickets to smash the car with a sledgehammer will be sold outside the South Cafeteria Thursday, Friday, and Monday. It is $1 for three hits on the car.
“By buying a ticket, students are making a pledge to smash drugs and alcohol out of their lives,” Manning said.
Half of the money raised will be donated to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, and the other half will go toward student council activities.
