After making improvements to its robot, the Robotics Club is ready to face off at its championship competition Friday and Saturday.

“Prelims are to find out which competition you are in and find flaws with your robot. We had a lot of problems at prelims, but we are a lot more prepared now,” sophomore May Khine said.

In preparation for championships, the club added thicker wedges and a smaller battery to the robot.

This year, the club decided to use a defensive design. They will go up against offensive robots during their battles.

“The team we are most worried about is Plum. They were champions last year,” Khine said.

Club members have prepared a backup robot in case of damage.

“We’re expecting to take a beating tomorrow, so we have a second structure and spare parts that we can connect our motor to,” Khine said.

The biggest worry for club members at this point is making it through their rounds.

“If we lose one round we go home, but since we placed so high at prelims we will probably be well off,” Khine said.
