Hula-hoop dancing is rare among teenagers — almost as rare as winning a talent show for three years straight.
Junior Alana Martucci now has done both, as she used her hula-hoop skills to earn a talent show “three-peat” at Thursday night’s event.
“I had no expectations of winning again; however, I am extremely happy and grateful that I did win,” Martucci said.
This year’s routine was more complex than in previous years. Martucci added more complicated skills and LED hula-hoops.
Because hula-hoop dancing is so rare, Martucci teaches herself the moves with the help of YouTube and her own creativity.
“If the opportunity presents itself, I would love to just get to compete again,” Martucci said.
