That cage at the top of the third-floor stairwell is now part of an art installation.
Senior Justin Coulehan began installing the work, which includes dozens of books in stacks atop the stairs, on Thursday and was working toward completion today. Coulehan is first of many advanced studio art students who will display their art inside the cage.
Coulehan said the project took many weeks to plan.
“My piece symbolizes the true path to knowledge, and that literature and art will guide you to acquire more knowledge. There will be a lotus flower placed inside as well to symbolize enlightenment,” Coulehan said.
