Senior Kayla McCormick shot two free throws with .5 seconds left in the game on Monday, securing a dramatic win for the girls basketball team against Upper St. Clair, 51-49.
“Either she would win the game for us or we would go into overtime. It was very exciting and nerve wracking,” senior Emma Ranft said.
After winning three section games in a row, the team now carries a 3-2 section record.
The girls see themselves getting closer to their goal of becoming section champs for the first time since 1983.
“Our next step is to keep winning our section games,” Ranft said. “I think it’s possible to be section champs as long as we keep this winning streak.”
