Those seeking a place to dine with a 50’s era feel and a new millennium sense of humor should look no further than the Hot Metal Diner, located in West Mifflin. The diner is covered in various bumper stickers and magnets, giving the place an interesting and unique décor. Their slogans, however, are “No whining,” and “Not the most kid friendly place in town,” which a few profane signs and even some staff members’ shirts attest to. This is definitely not a place for young children. Regardless of the questionable language, the staff was personable and polite. People such as Hillary Clinton and Rick Sebak have visited the diner and enjoyed the atmosphere. The food overall is delicious. Be prepared for plate-sized pancakes and hearty breakfast or lunch options. If waiting is a problem, try to avoid the weekend breakfast hours as there was a steady flow of customers. The food was reasonably priced, but be sure to bring cash. They do not accept credit cards, but have an ATM in the establishment for those who come unprepared.
