The Dor-Stop restaurant in Dormont is a quaint little diner decorated with trinkets and posters of old. It’s situated on a picturesque but tight street, where parking could be a hassle on busy weekend mornings. The diner is very small but filled wall to wall with memorabilia. Dor-Stop has a colorful menu packed with French toast, sandwiches, and all the typical diner breakfast favorites. Since its feature on Food Network’s Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives in 2008, Dor-Stop has had non-stop crowds hoping to get a taste of their raspberry French toast and hotcakes. There’s a reason why this diner is famous for its colorful pumpkin, banana, oatmeal, and apple hotcakes. The hotcakes are huge, often overshadowing the plate, and are so flavorful that even the biggest syrup fan could go without it. Those planning to visit Dormont should go on a weekday, when the diner is free of crowds and service is quick and efficient. Compared to the fantastic hotcakes, the sides like the steak, eggs and bacon lack a certain something. Generally, the Dor-Stop restaurant is a fantastic diner and in the words of Guy Fieri, is dynamite.
