After the vast success of his previous singles, “When We Were on Fire” in 2013, “Hold Back the River” and “Let it Go” (not the Frozen version) in 2014, James Bay’s first album, Chaos and the Calm, proves to be worth the wait. Along with the three chart-topping singles, Bay includes nine other spectacularly crafted songs, with 10 more on the deluxe edition, which need to make their way onto everyone’s playlist. Chaos and the Calm incorporates a variety of songs appealing to any audience. Songs range from the fast and empowering “Best Fake Smile” to a much slower “Scars.” Upon listening to the first few words of the album, listeners can tell Bay’s voice and his emotionally charged and thoughtful lyrics separate his songs from most of today’s music. Bay’s first full-length album promises future success for his music career.
