Baldwin High School filmed its first-ever lip dub today, to the song “I Lived” by One Republic.
“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t stressful. After the first run through I thought it was going to fall apart, but somehow it all clicked,” Sara Roberto said.
The action started at the central doors with the junior and senior class presidents lip syncing the opening lines, then it went into the gym with a basketball game and the Highlander Huddle cheering.
Then the camera went past the guidance office with the volleyball teams, color guard, da Vincian Society, hockey, and tennis teams all briefly took center stage. Then the action moved to the atriums, which were filled with wrestlers, the National Honor Society, and the Literary Guild creating a “number one” by holding books in the air.
On the corridor leading to the auditorium the marching band, choir, and the Drama Club led the camera into the auditorium.
As the camera reached the front of the stage, students threw confetti and balloons, and waved glow sticks. The camera spun around to a row of teachers on stage, pretending to be scolding the rowdy students.
When the camera turned back to the students, they were sitting quietly in their seats, and the lip dub came to a close.
Roberto got a standing ovation from staff and students in the auditorium.
“That was probably the best part,” she said. “It was awesome.”
Roberto thinks that the Lip Dub was a success.
“The final video looks really good, and I can’t wait to see the finished product,” she said. “The video will be out sometime next week.”
Senior class treasurer Mara Meyer is also optimistic about the outcome of the video.
“I think the ending product is going to turn out really well. At first, I wasn’t too sure about it but I really think it bound the school together and everyone seems to be getting into it,” Meyer said.
