This week, students will have the chance to take the pledge to end the use of derogatory terms toward people with disabilities.
Special Olympics sponsor Timothy Laughlin has been involved in the campaign since it began in 2009. Laughlin said that the goal is to remind people that some words have no use in today’s society.
“We hope to create an understanding about people with disabilities and to not use words with a negative connotation,” Laughlin said.
Students can take the pledge outside the cafeteria during lunch periods all this week.
