The Baldwin girls soccer team defeated Oakland Catholic 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday night at Highmark Stadium.
Senior Olivia Page said it was an exciting game due to the game-winning goal scored in overtime by junior Kelsey Meyer.
“Kelsey scored on a corner kick early in overtime, and everyone ran to each other celebrating and hugging each other,” Page said.
Sophomore Tenley Fry scored the first goal for the Highlanders, giving them some early momentum.
“Tenley played great,” Page said. “She scored our first goal, which gave us more confidence throughout the game and more motivation to keep playing well.”
The Highlanders kept a high motor from start to finish.
“We did a great job keeping our overall team morale and energy up throughout the game even after they tied it,” Page said.
Despite all of the exciting emotions, there were some sad ones after this season-ending game.
“All of the seniors were very emotional after the game because this was our last game and we are never going to play with each other again,” Page said.
