Baldwin’s Marvel Rivals esports team defeated the Harrisburg Cougars on Thursday, 2-0.
Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 shooter game that features Marvel characters, where the teams face off in a best-of-three competition.
Junior Ava Kelly said the Highlanders worked well together.
“We communicated well together, and we let everybody know if there was an issue that was happening somewhere on the map,” Kelly said.
Kelly said that the Baldwin players who served as tanks did well. Junior Nathan Loshelder in particular stood out to her.
“He’s a tank, and whenever the other team tried to kill and came back for flanks, he would fight back against them,” Kelly said. “The tanks in general really pushed back when (Harrisburg) got a few kills.”
Kelly, who is new to the team, is still getting used to everyone’s playing style.
“It got easier the more we knew each other,” Kelly said.
While Baldwin won, Kelly said Harrisburg did well with kills.
“They were able to surprise us with some kills in the second game,” Kelly said.
Baldwin’s next match is Thursday against an opponent that is still to be determined.
