Baldwin Hockey defeated Bethel Park 4-2 Thursday night at Ice Castle.
Sophomore Aiden Rozboril and freshman Ian Leuch each scored their first varsity goal, and seniors Nate Buys and Mack Dempsey also scored for Baldwin.
Sophomore Timothy Bush said the Highlanders played well.
“We played a really good team, and upsetting a rival like Bethel is always great,” Bush said. “We did well at moving the puck, and we were not afraid to play.”
Senior Zach Hunt made multiple key saves throughout the game to secure the win.
This was the Highlanders’ second game. In the first, they lost to Armstrong, but junior Jacob Kaercher said the team played much better against Bethel.
“I think we were a whole different team compared to our first game, and we improved a lot from that first game,” Kaercher said.
Kaercher said that “Bethel was quick and had excellent passing.” But some of their offensive opportunities did not result in goals, Bush said.
“Bethel struggled with capitalizing on the chances that they had,” Bush said.
Kaercher said Baldwin still has things to work on.
“I think just taking fewer penalties would really help us,” Kaercher said.
Their next game is against Hempfield on Thursday at Ice Castle at 7 p.m.
