The marching band came in second in a PIMBA competition in Mt. Lebanon on Saturday and posted their highest score of the season with 82.5 points.
Senior Jonathon Pickell said the extra practice the band had last week helped them.
“We implemented new things into the show and had more time to practice, as we didn’t have a competition last Saturday due to Homecoming. We had four rehearsals instead of two, which definitely helped us prepare,” Pickell said.
Senior Adam Drischler agreed.
“The fact that we didn’t have a performance last week definitely had us well rested for this performance. The props, including our new wall prop, heightened the performance and were executed well,” Drischler said.
The team placed second at the competition, and moved up relative to some other bands.
“We beat Southmoreland, who had previously beaten us in a recent competition,” Pickell said.
Looking at upcoming competitions, Pickell said the team needs to work on a few things.
“We need to focus on note accuracy and fixing our general tones overall. Focusing more at practice will definitely help us,” Pickell said
Drischler said there needs to be more synchronization.
“We need to work on staying together as an overall band between the front and backfield,” Drischler said.
The band’s next competition is at Gateway on Saturday.
